The body of a US embassy official in Nairobi, Kenya was found hanging in a hotel room.
The New York Post, citing police and witnesses, said the official’s body was found in a hotel in Kenya’s capital Nairobi on April 7. Embassy officials tried to contact the official when he failed to show up at work but were unsuccessful.
“The body was found hanging near the hotel room window. He appeared to have died long before security forces arrived at the scene,” a police officer said. Police also found a suicide note near the bed. This will be one of the clues in the investigation into the case, which is believed to be a suicide.
The US Embassy in Nairobi issued a statement confirming the official’s death, but did not provide details about his identity. “We can confirm the death of a US government employee. The US Embassy in Nairobi would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased,” a US embassy official said.
