Casey Fields and his 1-year-old daughter, Lyla, adorned themselves in coordinated tutus for a professional photoshoot by Texas photographer Jenn Floyd. Both donned pink tulle skirts for the occasion, with Lyla wearing a flower crown and her father complementing his look with a snapback hat.
Fields carefully manicured his daughter’s nails, colored in a Minnie Mouse coloring book, and showered her with affectionate cuddles as the camera clicked away. Although he admitted, “I’ve never worn a tutu or done anything like that before, I was definitely willing to do it for Lyla.” Floyd mentioned that Casey quickly embraced his new outfit during the photoshoot.
Fields expressed, “It’s kind of a manly man thing, but it’s for my daughter. When she gets older, it can be something we can laugh at and I can use it as blackmail to embarrass her or something.”
The photoshoot was a pro bono project initiated by Floyd, aiming to photograph family members to enhance her portfolio. The adorable pictures were shared on Facebook by photographer Jenn Floyd, garnering 20,000 likes and an impressive 53,000 shares. Fields remarked, “It blew up within two days. I’ll do anything for my daughter. It’s crazy how fast she has grown. She’s just a funny little girl, and I love her to death.”
According to photographer Jenn, Casey initially felt a bit nervous about wearing a tutu, but he quickly loosened up and embraced his role as an involved father, which came naturally to him.
The images, captured by photographer Jenn Floyd, have now gone viral, warming hearts across the country. Casey hopes that it will convey to fellow dads that “it’s okay for a manly man to put on a tutu and play with his daughter.” The photographer noted the fortunate response they received, saying, “It was just a charming concept that we hoped would bring a smile to our friends’ faces; we had no clue it would send a grin to the entire country!”
Fields believes the strong response to the photos is due to people enjoying seeing moments between a dad and his daughter. He emphasized, “It’s for them, live in the moment and cherish it and make memories. It’s okay for a manly man to put on a tutu and play and interact with his daughter; it doesn’t make you less of a man. And if anybody thinks that about me, I really don’t care. I did it for Lyla.”
